читать дальше«Lavanasura became King long before Rama or anyone was born - remember, he killed Mandhata, one of Rama's ancestors. So there was no question of Madhu being in power when Bharat was ruling. What this does leave unexplained, though, is whether his persecution of rishis started after Rama became king, or did it only get brought to his attention after the exile of Sita?
Another curious fact - Ravan never thought of asking Lavanasura for help, maybe by invading Ayodhya and distracting Rama even more? Had Lavanasura invaded Ayodhya with his trishul, even Bharat and Shatrughan would have been killed, and all the womenfolk captured and handed over to Ravan. Interestingly enough, Lavanasura didn't seem to be an expansionist ruler - he was pretty happy to mind his own business and restrict the persecution of rishis to his own kingdom, and didn't bother invading other kingdoms to torment rishis there. It would seem to me that had all the rishis just fled Madhupura for, say, Ayodhya, which would have been happy to have them, things would have been fine. Looks like enemity Lavanasura had with Ayodhya was initiated both by Mandhata, and later by Rama.
I think it is not the enemity Lavanasur had with Ayodhya or Suryavanshi, it is his enemity with the Rishis..... And after Ram became the king, the rishis probably thought this an opportune moment and ask for Ram's help. There are always chances that these Asuras keep doing long penances and hence Ravan was not able to get hold of Lavanasur. But that would be if he was an asura. But if he was just a mere mortal Yaduvanshi, Ravan would have not cared for him.
I totally forgot about Lavana killing Mandhata OuchOuchOuch I probably need a break from my schedule . . . My main doubt was why was it brought to notice only after Sita's bansihment or rather after Ram had been made king. If Lavanasur had tried to invade, I think the result may have been as you had predicted. But it may have been possible that Maharishi Vashishta would have warned Bharat about the Trishul. Ram was the one who gave the weapon to destroy Lavanasur. I wonder if Sage Vashishta could have helped out Bharat too. It is possible.
It is also possible that Ravan may not have cared for Lavana as he was a mortal Yadhuvanshi but I doubt if he was merely mortal. Most of the time Lavana is depicted as a barbaric and brutal person. Also, I wonder how Ravan ignored the fact Lavana possesed Lord Shiva's Trishul. »
