"...Храм Шри Эклингаджи, как говорят, был построен где-то в 15 веке. Это даже не один храм, а целый комплекс храмов и храмиков, обнесенный стеной. Само божество представляет собой лингу из черного мрамора с четырьмя лицами. Мужчин и женщин, пришедших на даршан (свидание с богом), разделили на две очереди, которые подходили к линге с разных сторон. Паломники принесли дары – кокосы, маленькие сахарные шарики, благовония и цветочные гирлянды. Сзади меня в очереди стояла группка женщин в полном обмундировании раджастанских деревенских жительниц. А именно – блузки на них были точь в точь такими, какие мы часто видим в индийских краеведческих музеях, но не часто в реальной жизни, - типа бюстгалтеров маленьких, каких-то даже кукольных размеров. Браслеты покрывали не только руки от запястий до локтей, но и предплечья – полностью покрывая их до самых плеч. Волосы были украшены какими-то серебряными цепочками, а наверху лба каждой из этих женщин красовались золотые «шишки». В носах - огромные золотые кольца. Я не взглянула на ноги этих женщин, но уверена, что каждая лодыжка была заключена в массивный серебряный браслет, а может быть, и не один. В общем, весь их вид говорил о полной традиционности и древней племенной культуре. Их лица не отличались благородностью черт, зато весь облик был очень экзотичным. Даже здесь, в Раджастане, такое встретишь не часто. Женщины похихикивали и запросто по-деревенски толкали меня в спину, мол, тоже на даршан к Шиве идешь, чужеземка? Впрочем, все это было проделано очень дружелюбно.
Я тоже предложила Шиве кокос и гирлянду. Атмосфера в храме чистая, спокойная. Несмотря на то, что в этот день посетителей в храме было много, не было никакой толкотни и суеты. Само место располагает к умиротворению – вокруг храма находятся удивительной формы холмы и поблизости есть несколько озер. Помимо основного комплекса храма Шри Эклингаджи здесь стоят еще несколько старых храмов. Один из них датируется 10 веком.
Фотографировать внутри комплекса Шри Эклингаджи запрещено, так что мы взобрались на ближайший холм и сделали кадр сверху. А на холме росли разухабистые кактусы с красноватыми микро-цветочками. Коровы гуляли среди скал, отыскивая себе там какое-то пропитание. И послеполуденное раджастанское солнце жарило и сушило землю, богатую на разные минералы и мрамор, который тут валяется кусками.
Вечером, уже в Удайпуре, мы стояли на крыше, любуясь видом озера Пичола. В храмах звонили в колокола и били в барабаны, звучало «Ом Намах Шивайя», - люди чествовали своего бога. Праздник потихоньку подходил к концу, но во всем воздухе было разлито такое светлое и радостное чувство." (поперто из сети, не помню)

NARAYANA ASTRA
Let us also parallely run through what happens with the pandavas immediately after Drona was killed .
Arjuna was totally against Yudhishtira uttering a falsehood earlier.
Now on seeing his Guru been killed in a very treacherous manner, his sorrows compounded . He was all in tears & feared disaster through Ashwathama .
Drishtadyumna interrupts & speaks some harsh words about Drona & his past which angers Satyaki. A furious Satyaki lambasts Drishtadyumna & challenged him that if he continues with such words about Drona, Satyaki himself will slay Dristadyumna & added that he should feel ashamed to be called a Kshatriya for his sinful act.
An enraged Drishtadyumna continued with his Drona bashing again which further ignited the already sensitive situation.
Drishtadyumna also added further by teasing Satyaki by the manner in which he killed Burisiravas when he was in yoga posture. Satyaki now charged towards Drishtadyumna with his sword & bow with an intention to kill him. However, a timely intervention by Bhima & Krishna saved a big fight between the two.
Sahadeva steps in & pleads to everyone to stand united & face the war & then the Pandavas resumed the war.
As Ashwathama let loose that NARAYANA ASTRA, innumerable number of maces, discs, razor all appeared in the air & it killed those who tried to resist against those weapons. And those multiple weapons destroyed a large chunck of Pandavas & those who tried to resist.
Krishna now quickly addresses the Pandavas :
Speedily lay down your weapons, all of you, and alight from your vehicles. Even this is the means ordained by Narayana himself for baffling this weapon. Come down on the earth, all of you from your elephants and steeds and cars. If you stand weaponless on the earth, this weapon will not slay you. In those places where you will fight for quelling the force of this weapon the Kauravas will become more powerful than you. Those men, however, that will throw down their weapons and alight from their vehicles, will not in this battle, be slain by this weapon. They, however, that will, even in imagination, contend against this weapon, will all be slain even if they seek refuge deep beneath the earth
The warriors of the Pandava army, threw their weapons and drove away from their hearts all desire of battle.
However, Bhima comes up to take the challenge by saying :
None should lay down his weapons here. I shall, with my shafts, oppose this weapon of Drona's son. With this heavy mace of mine, I will destroy this weapon.There is no man here that is equal to me .
Even while Bhima tried to challenge the weapon, the weapon with exceeding energy fell upon the head of Bhima.
However, Krishna rushes to the rescue of Bhima & chides him to put down all his arms & stand without fighting. But for Krishna, Bhima would have lost his life at that moment.As Bhima reluctantly did it, the Narayana weapon, became pacified.
Duryodhana urges Ashwathama to fire the Narayana weapon again but he refuses by saying that it will be counter productive if it is applied again.
Cheerlessly, the Kaurava army finally move towards their tents for rest
AND FINALLY THAT DREADFUL 14TH DAY OF THE WAR CAME TO A CLOSE

AFTER THE DEATH OF DRONA :
Ashwathama , unaware of the entire sequence of events that lead to his Father’s death, came back to Duryodhana after defeating his opponents & finds Duryodhana & Kripa in tearful mood.
While Duryodhana was full of tears & sorrow , unable to speak anything, Kripa narrates the whole events .
Drona's son was filled with grief and rage.
Ashwathama was very upset by the manner in which Drona was killed .
So he takes a terrible oath now that he will vanquish the Pandavas & Panchalas by WHATEVER MEANS POSSIBLE.
Despite the whole army being tired, Aswathama urges Duryodhana to continue the war & singlehandedly takes up the challenge.
He reveals a mighty weapon which he was holding in secret all these years:
Formerly on one occasion, Sri Vishu, assuming the form of a Brahmana, came to my father. Bowing unto him, my father presented his offerings unto him in due form. Taking them himself, He offered to give him a boon. My father then solicited that supreme weapon called Narayana. Sri Vishnu, said, No man shall ever become Ur equal in battle. This weapon, however, should never be used in haste. It never comes back without effecting the destruction of the foe. Therefore, it should not be used without the greatest deliberation.
This mighty weapon, should never be hurled upon persons that abandon their cars or weapons in battle, or upon those that seek for quarter or those that wield themselves up. He who seek to afflict in battle the unslayable with it, is himself exceedingly afflicted by it!
My Father thus received that weapon.
Now I will apply this divine Narayana weapon which will rout and wipe out the entire Pandavas.
Having said those words, Aswathama touched water and invoked the celestial weapon called the Narayana Astra.
When the weapon was invoked, violent winds began to blow with showers of rain, and peals of thunder were heard although the sky was cloudless. The earth trembled, and the seas swelled up in agitation. The rivers began to run in a contrary course. The summits of mountains, began to split.
The gods and the Gandharvas, trembled with fear.

If Drona fights even for half a day, I tell U truly, Ur army will be totally wiped out. Save us from Drona .Under such circumstances, falsehood is better than truth. By telling an untruth for saving a life, one is not touched by sin. There is no sin in untruth spoken unto women, or in marriages, or for saving king, or for rescuing a Brahmana.
I COULD SEE DRONA SOON WILL BE TAKING THE MOST POTENT WEAPON – BRAMASTRA , WHICH WILL VANQUISH THE ENTIRE PANDAVA ARMY.REMEMBER THAT BRAMASTRA IS THE WEAPON OF THE CREATOR OF HUMAN BEINGS, SRI BRAHMA & U CAN NEVER COUNTER IT.
While Krishna and Yudhishthira were thus talking with each other, Bhima quickly sums up what he did to Drona . Now urged by Krishna, Yudhishtira moves few steps forward towards Drona. Drona , on seeing Yudishtira, asks the question whether Ashwathama is really dead ?
Yudhishthira made up his mind to say what he desired. Fearing to utter an untruth, but earnestly desirous of victory,
Yudhishthira distinctly said that Aswatthaman was dead, adding indistinctly the world elephant ,after the name.
TO PUT IT IN SANSKRIT, YUDHISHTIRA SAID – ASWATHAMA HATHAHA………… KUNJARAHA ( IN A MILD TONE )
Before this, Yudhishthira's car had stayed at a height of four fingers' breadth from the surface of the earth. After however, he had said that untruth, his (vehicle and) horses touched the earth.
Now Bhima pours his frustration on Drona by harsh words reminding him that Drona failed to perform the duties of a Brahman & because he took this profession of killing everyone & having rejected his dharma, all bad things have happened .
Hearing this, Drona’s pain & agony was compounded further & lost all interest in war.
Drona laid aside his bow. And he also screams loudly :
Karna, Kripa, Duryodhana, I tell you repeatedly, exert yourselves carefully in battle. Let no injury happen to you from the Pandayas. As regards myself, I lay aside my weapons.
He now devoted himself to Yoga posture.
Capitalizing on that opportunity, Dhrishtadyumna mustered all his energy. Laying down on the car his bow, with arrow fixed on the bow-string, he took up a sword, and jumping down from his vehicle, rushed quickly against Drona. All creatures, human beings and others, uttered exclamation of woe, beholding Drona thus brought under Dhrishtadyumna's power. Loud cries of Oh and Alas were uttered.
Despite cries & shouts from the 5 Pandavas, Drishtadyumna yet casting his eyes on the lifeless Drona's head, he began to drag it. With his sword, then, he lopped off from his foe's trunk that head.
Having slain Drona, Dhrishtadyumna was filled with great joy, and uttered leonine shouts, whirling his sword.
None of the Pandavas vouched for this act of Drishtadyumna.
Arjuna, in particular, melted with pity, had cried out repeatedly.
Meanwhile Drona, ascending the skies, entered the stellar path & there was a flash of light which moved from Drona’s body upwards to the sky.
THUS ENDS THE LIFE OF ACHARYA DRONA.

Hearing those highly disagreeable words of Bhima and reflecting upon them, Drona's limbs seemed to dissolve.
Recollecting however, the prowess of his son, he soon came to regard that intelligence as false.
Hearing, therefore, of his slaughter, Drona did not become unmanned. Indeed, soon recovering his senses, he became comforted, remembering that his son was incapable of being resisted by foes. Rushing towards Drishtadyumna, he covered him with multiple shafts.
Now around 20000 warriors attacked him but he dispelled all those warriors’ shafts with arrows of his.
Using more celestial weapons, Drona slews six thousand elephants & ten thousand steeds.
Seeing the destructive mood of Drona, all the rishis assemble & Bramha Deva himself appears before him and says :
U are fighting unrighteously. Ur are versed in the Vedas but U ceased to practice them. U are not doing the duties of a Brahman . Please lay aside all ur weapons.
Even the rishis echoed the same feelings of Brahma Deva.
Hearing this, Drona became exceedingly cheerless in battle.
Burning with grief and exceedingly afflicted, he tries to reach Yudhishthiraas to find out whether his son Aswatthaman had been slain or not.
Drona firmly believed that Yudhishthira would never speak an untruth even for the sake of the sovereignty of the three worlds.
For this reason, Drona sought to approach Yudhishthira and not any body else. He had hoped for truth from Yudhishthira from the latter's infancy.
Meanwhile, Krishna , knowing that Drona, was capable of sweeping all the Pandavas off the face of the earth, became much distressed
Krishna's main concern was due to the fact that Drona was all set to fire BRAMASTRA soon.

EARLY MORNING OF DAY 15 ( continuity of night 14 warfare )
The war continues without gap now even after the sunrise.
An enraged Drona kills the grandsons of Durupadha. He also vanquishes in no time, the Chedis, the Kaikeyas, the Srinjayas & Matsayas.
Drona faces Durupadha & Virata now & the old rivalry comes to the memories now & after a brief battle, Drona kills both Durupadha & Virata.
On seeing the death of his father Durupadha, Drishtadyumna takes up the challenge & charges towards Drona supported by Arjuna.
By now Sun had risen at the morning & the fighting still continued
Karna & Bhima once again have a wonderful battle . After both showing their prowess, Karna again shows his superiority by destroying Bhima’s chariot & his horses. Bhima was forced to jump over to Nakula’s chariot for safety.
Drona & Arjuna meet .
Drona unleashes the Aindra, the Pasupata, the Tvashtra, the Vayavya, and the Yamya weapons which were all countered efficiently by Arjuna.
The battle looked exceedingly wonderful with both displaying their prowess.
But gradually Drona showed his dominance & kills countless number of Pandavas .
Even Arjuna could not control Drona’s onslaught .
A worried Krishna now tells Arjuna :
It is evident that Drona, that warrior conversant with the mightiest of weapons, will consume us soon. This foremost of all bowmen is incapable of being ever vanquished by force in battle, by the very gods with Indra at their head. When, however, he lays aside his weapons, he becomes capable of being slain on the field even by human beings. Casting aside virtue, someone of U , adopt now some contrivance for gaining the victory, so that Drona may not slay us all in battle. However, he is fond of his son Aswathama. If he hears that Aswathama is dead, he will cease to fight, I think. Let someone , therefore, tell him that Aswatthaman, hath been slain in battle.
However, Arjuna disapproves this totally. But Yudhishthira accepted it with great difficulty.
Now Bhima, slews with a mace a elephant named Aswatthaman, of his own army, belonging to Indravarman, the chief of the Malavas.
Approaching Drona now with some bashfulness Bhima began to exclaim aloud,
Aswatthaman had been slain
The war continues without gap now even after the sunrise.
An enraged Drona kills the grandsons of Durupadha. He also vanquishes in no time, the Chedis, the Kaikeyas, the Srinjayas & Matsayas.
Drona faces Durupadha & Virata now & the old rivalry comes to the memories now & after a brief battle, Drona kills both Durupadha & Virata.
On seeing the death of his father Durupadha, Drishtadyumna takes up the challenge & charges towards Drona supported by Arjuna.
By now Sun had risen at the morning & the fighting still continued
Karna & Bhima once again have a wonderful battle . After both showing their prowess, Karna again shows his superiority by destroying Bhima’s chariot & his horses. Bhima was forced to jump over to Nakula’s chariot for safety.
Drona & Arjuna meet .
Drona unleashes the Aindra, the Pasupata, the Tvashtra, the Vayavya, and the Yamya weapons which were all countered efficiently by Arjuna.
The battle looked exceedingly wonderful with both displaying their prowess.
But gradually Drona showed his dominance & kills countless number of Pandavas .
Even Arjuna could not control Drona’s onslaught .
A worried Krishna now tells Arjuna :
It is evident that Drona, that warrior conversant with the mightiest of weapons, will consume us soon. This foremost of all bowmen is incapable of being ever vanquished by force in battle, by the very gods with Indra at their head. When, however, he lays aside his weapons, he becomes capable of being slain on the field even by human beings. Casting aside virtue, someone of U , adopt now some contrivance for gaining the victory, so that Drona may not slay us all in battle. However, he is fond of his son Aswathama. If he hears that Aswathama is dead, he will cease to fight, I think. Let someone , therefore, tell him that Aswatthaman, hath been slain in battle.
However, Arjuna disapproves this totally. But Yudhishthira accepted it with great difficulty.
Now Bhima, slews with a mace a elephant named Aswatthaman, of his own army, belonging to Indravarman, the chief of the Malavas.
Approaching Drona now with some bashfulness Bhima began to exclaim aloud,
Aswatthaman had been slain

Karna, after letting Sahadeva , concentrates on Yudhishtira now. Karna now is uncontrollable as he destroys the Panchala army & makes Drishtadyumna run to another chariot for safety . Despite Yudhishtira trying his best, he was no match was karna.
A panicking Yudishtira screams at Arjuna to save him & also kill Karna immediately.
Seeing the prowess of Karna, Arjuna exclaims to Krishna now :
Yudhishtira if frightened by Karna today. Our army is flying away . I see Karna careering fearlessly. Our foremost of car-warriors are flying away. Karna is scattering his keen shafts. I cannot, like a snake incapable of putting up with the tread of a human being upon its body, bear to see him thus careering at the head of battle, before my eyes. Proceed, therefore, to that spot where Karna is. I will either kill him, or let him slay me.
Krishna in reply :
There is none else capable of advancing against him in battle, except U.. I do not, however, regard the time to have come.
Saying this, Krishna quickly calls for Gatotkacha & explains him the situation & asks him to fight with karma. Ever obedient & brave
Gatotkacha takes up the challenge & rushes towards Karna.
& the fight between the 2 looked like another war itself.
Gatotkacha displayed all his magical illusion skills & troubled the entire Kaurava army backed by Karna & Duryodhana. Karna tried all conventional weapons by Gatotkacha was stubborn.
Gatotkacha’s destruction was so immense that Duryodhana time & again irritated Karna by asking him to use the dart given by Indra.
Duryodhana was worried because the manner of penetration caused by the Rakshasha was such that a major portion of Kauravas were destroyed
Then Karna, seeing the Rakshasa alive at dead of night, and the Kuru army struck with fear, and hearing also the loud wails of the latter set his heart upon hurling his dart. Inflamed with rage, Karna took up that foremost of victory-giving and invincible darts, desirous of compassing the destruction of Ghatotkacha.
THAT POTENT DESTRUCTIVE WEAPON OF INDRA WHICH WAS GIVEN AS A QUID PRO QUO BY INDRA WHEN KARNA GIFTED HIM HIS EAR RINGS & KAVACHA WAS THUS APPLIED BY KARNA ON GATOTKACHA.
that fierce weapon which looked like the very tongue of the Destroyer was now hurled at the Rakshasa. Indeed, seeing that dart in Karna's hand, all creatures in the sky uttered loud cries.
Fierce winds began to blow, and thunders with loud report began to fall on the earth. Destroying that blazing illusion of Ghatotkacha and piercing right through his breast that resplendent dart soared aloft in the night and entered a starry constellation in the firmament.
Having fought, using diverse beautiful weapons, with many heroic Rakshasa and human warriors, Ghatotkacha, then uttering diverse terrible roars, fell, deprived of life with that dart of Indra.
Even while falling down dead, Gatotkacha took a huge form that fell on the Kaurava army & killed so many by the sheer size & weight of the body.
While the entire Kauravas celebrated Karna , the Pandavas were filled with grief .
However, there was one person who was cheerful on this incident. It was Krishna .
Indeed, uttering loud shouts he embraced Arjuna. Tying the steeds and uttering loud roars, he began to dance in a transport of joy.
Then embraced Arjuna once more,
A grief sticken Arjuna wondered at Krishna :
Krishna, the cause must be very grave when at such a time U feel so much joy.Tell me truly what that cause .
Krishna replied :
Great is the joy I feel. Listen to me, Krishna. that Karna, his dart being baffled through Ghatotkacha, is already slain. The man does not exist in this world that could not stay before Karna armed with that dart.
By good luck, Karna’s natural armour ( KAVACHA )had been taken away.
By good luck, his earrings also had been taken away.
By good luck, his infallible dart also is now baffled, through Ghatotkacha.
With the above 3 strong assets, Karna was invincible. Let me tell U emphatically that even U could not have killed Karna . No , not even my Sudharshana chakra could have touched Karna.
For Ur good, Karna was divested of his ear-rings by Indra
Similarly was that deprived of his (natural) armour. Indeed, because Karna, cutting off his (natural) armour and his brilliant car-rings, gave them unto Indra.
He is incapable of being vanquished in battle by the gods
Consider urself to be fortunate now that the might of Karna is already diluted .
With his dart , if Karna had not slain him, I myself would have had to slay Bhima's son Ghatotkacha. From desire of benefiting you, I did not slay him before. That Rakshasa was inimical to Brahmanas and sacrifices. Because he was a destroyer of sacrifices and of a sinful soul, therefore he had been thus slain.
Now lets focus on Drona .
Hearing the words of Krishna, Arjuna starts his focus on Drona now.

"Я это собственно к чему. Дело в том что нездоровая пара учитель-тренер + ученик-звезда, к сожалению, совершенно типична. Но все-таки вина в первую очередь, как думается мне на старшем, на воспитателе. Это очень подло так "личностно завязывать" на себе учеников, ставить их в максимальную зависимость от своих оценок, в сущности, психологически шантажировать. Арджуне еще крупно повезло, что у него были братья, причем старшие, да еще такие как Ютхиштхира с Бхимой. Ну, и такой друг, как Кришна, который тебе по крутизне как минимум равен (если считать человеческий уровень, а божеский оставить в покое). До чего может довести "воспитание (испытание?) Дроной" в читом виде мы видим на примере Ашватхамана. Дрона ведь его всю жизнь шпынял, мучал сравнениями, прививал бесконечные комплексы, внушал неверные ценности. Так что выросло то, что должно было вырости."

"...Тогда - по быстрому, в двух словах сперва о Дроне. Дело в том, что он представляет, по моему мнению, самый ненавистный лично мне тип учителя. А именно - учитель "тренер". То есть - ему совершенно начхать на душевные качества ученика и их развитие. Ему важны рекорды и кубки, победы и восхищение (а еще лучше - зависть) коллег. При этом сам себя он мнит богом, абсолютно уверен в своей непогрешимости. Профессионализм провозглашает наивысшей ценностью. Но! При этом совершенно не способен искренне уважать достоинства других. Завистлив, злобен, злопамятен, надменен и жесток, ради "победы", готов на все. Не дай бог такого наставника."
..."Но, мне кажется, тут следует помнить ещё о двух обстоятельствах.
Во-первых, для такого учителя требуются соответствующие ученички. Помню-помню, как мне неоднократно указывали, Арджуна ещё мальчик, и из него, как из воска... и т.д. А можете Вы на место Арджуны мысленно поставить другого юного ученика - Юдхиштхиру? У меня не получается. То есть какие-то задатки нужны, а там за дело возьмётся талантливый педагог. И, как помните, Дрона не сам выбрал Арджуну, он предложил вопрос, и выбрал ТОГО, кто ответил "ПРАВИЛЬНО".
А вот и второй аспект: для благоденствия такого очевидно самолюбующегося персонажа при дворе, полном разных партий и интриг, необходимо покровительство (тем более, что Дрона и Дурьйодхана не очень ладят). И вот это покровительство и постоянную (до конца жизни!) верную поддержку Дрона получает от не менее загадочного и ещё более "гериатрического" героя - Бхишмы (который, кстати, Дрону и "нанял" в качестве тренера). Если несколько изуродовать цитату из любимого ФМ, "Не будь Бхишмы - не было бы и Дроны"

Но я бы не стала преувеличивать. Арджуна, несомненно, более уверен в своих силах. Но в то же время до известной степени зависим от чужого мнения. Я думаю, им движет желание--совершенно бескорыстное--заслужить одобрение учителя. Что Арджуной любят поруководить все кому ни лень--мы уже обсуждали. Значит, он очень чуток к оценке окружающих. Задумывались ли юные ученики Дроны о моральной стороне вопроса? Или просто боялись, что не справятся? Обещая исполнить "заветную цель" учителя, мог ли Арджуна предполагать, что учитель потребует--может потребовать--от него нарушения дхармы? По-моему, всё гораздо проще.
Да, Дрона выбрал того, кто ответил правильно. Задавая вопрос, он предполагал, что кто-нибудь да должен дать нужный ответ. И возможно, хитромудрый Дрона уже догадывался, кто именно."

Двое меня! И не разделяйте!
По счастливому стечению обстоятельств, стал я владельцем черной Audi S4, 2008 года рождения. Ну машина, как машина, V-8 под капотом, цвет Phantom balck, колеса, там, коробка скоростей,порода прет из каждой щели, все дела - Монтана. Но вот что интересно: в изящно черно-серебристом салоне прочно прописался рояль. Звучит в нем только классическая музыка и все. А вот все остальное - не звучит! И в чем дело - не знаю! Срочно пришлось весь хип-хоп, попсу и Владим Владимыча из машины повыкидывать. Потянулся я было за Pink Floyd'ом, Генезисом и примкнувшим к ним Фредди, как вдруг сказал себе : "Стоп! Меня перевоспитывать?!! Не выйдет!" Так и ездим мы теперь: я машину - роком, а она меня - классикой. Кто кого?!
